The 2011 World Police & Fire Games and Memorial Inc. has been established as a registered non-profit, 501c (3), and has been given the honor, privilege and responsibility of producing these games in New York City. Consisting of active and retired police officers and firefighters, the 2011 World Police & Fire Games and Memorial Inc. was responsible for organizing, presenting and winning the bid for the 2011 World Police & Fire
Games.
After competing in several World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) and producing a 9/11
Memorial and thank you tribute at the 2003 WPFG in Barcelona, Spain, the idea
was conceived to host the WPFG in New York City in 2011. The Games will respectfully
coincide with the 10-year remembrance of September 11th, 2001. The 2011 World
Police & Fire Games will be delineated by two themes: Remembrance of those lost
on September 11, 2001 and an opportunity for all New Yorkers to express gratitude
for the intern
ational support that flooded into New York City. Our Mission:
Provide the best possible sporting venues combined with world-class officiating.
Integrate the multi-facet cultural, entertainment and historical experiences that New York City offers.
Remember together those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and express gratitude for the international support that flooded into New York City.
The World Police & Fire Games are currently the second largest multi-sport
event in the world behind the Summer Olympics. Our goal, in New York in 2011,
is to make the Games the largest and most memorable sporting event in the
greatest city in the world.
